In preparation for New Year's Eve, we women go to extreme lengths to find that perfect amount of post-holiday 'sparkle'. Maybe it's a pair of ridiculously gorgeous (and insanely impractical) 5 inch pumps stowed in the dungeons of our closet or a set of chandelier earrings found on sale in 2012 that could 'totally go with that one dress'.
For months in advance we eyeball sale racks in the likes of Wet Seal and Rue 21 for all things disposable party wear (i.e. tube tops and cheetah...anything). Gold, Glitter, Fur, Gems. All the usual suspects. All the things we are too shy to wear on a regular weekday night.
Ladies, it's winter and roughly less than 20 degrees fahrenheit. So let's heat things up.
Wear that statement necklace out to dinner with friends.
Rock that fir vest to the bar.
Glitter flats at the office? Done.
Let's not wait for one day out of 365 to feel glam as hell. And relish in it.
Dress-UP: I bought this comfy and flattering gold and black (not blue) dress last year for my company Christmas party. It was only $12 at ROSS and another $10 for alternations. Paired with tights, black high heels and a dark lip (MAC Sin) I felt totally festive. I will definitely be doing something similar for this year's events.
