Fall, autumn, indian summer, harvest time, solstice... whatever you want to call it, IS HERE. (Side note - I definitely googled synonyms for Fall just to come up with a list of more than.. two). Lately, I have been focusing on simple, classic, and trendy decor pieces for this season. Don't get me wrong, glitter is basically surging through my veins as we speak - but I've opted for a more toned down vibe this year.
Our home is already filled with greens, orange hues, grey, black, and lots of metals (gold, galvanized, etc.), which is a nice happy neutral color pallet that can be turned UP or DOWN depending on how you're feeling. That's what I LOVE about interior design, if you do it right you can swap out a few pieces all year long to set the seasonal scene. Stay tuned for my next post about our new loft style pad! We are obsessed. <3
Because you're chomping at the decorating bit, I'll get right to it. Here a few of my favorite inexpensive places to buy some seriously CHIC items. Amazon, AliExpress, Hobby Lobby and of course, your local dollar store can provide an excellent start to your next DIY decorating project.
Okay, this look is SO simple and fun. We have a few misc. books lying around the house that don't get cracked open that often (or ever). Oops! However, when stacked up and topped with your fav house plant they instantly add height and personality to our glass end tables. Plus, I feel o so sophisticated.
Living for all things gold and gilded (per usual) so naturally I had to top off my mounted deer antlers with a festive fall wreath. To create this look, I used a plain twig wreath covered in dollar store berries and sprays of colored leaves.
Using a ladder, I put a nail in the wall above the deer and found that perfect sweet spot to hang it. PS- For those who have asked, these are REAL ANTLERS. My grandpa (rest in peace) was an amazing outdoorsman and collected tons of racks over the years. If you can thrift, shoot, or have some given to you, I think they translate much better than plastic sets you can buy at target.
Another SIMPLE trick that you can add to your existing decor! The dollar tree had the cutest dark twig wreathes for .... you guessed it. ONE DOLLA. I put one on our gold tray table and placed a house plant inside. Strattled by two plastic (gold spray painted) elephants you have coffee table decor worth talking about.
This area is new in our home because of the updated furniture arrangement (we found ourselves getting very crafty when moving from a two bedroom place to a studio!). Tucked in the corner of our living room is a large tall modern black dresser we've converted into storage. The top had nothing going on and was DYING for some fall love. To spice it up, I added a cheap thrifted frame (sprayed gold, duh), and some target pumpkins. To add height and interest, I found a thrift store gold + glass bottle and placed in another small twig wreath. Top it off with some inexpensive floral pieces and BOOM. Chic, cheap, and easy.
Last, but not least the perfect autumn doormat! I stopped into world market the other day (another favorite haunt of mine) and admired the same damn mat for the 1000th time. On sale for $14.99 it was finally time to pull the trigger. So far, it is holding up super well and spruces up our apartment entrance.
