After spending a couple of days in AZ, it felt amazing coming home to some cold, crisp Montana air. Don't get me wrong, 70+ degrees for 72 hours was down right refreshing, but with the holiday season right around the corner I can't help want to drown myself in any all things Winter/Christmas/Glitter.
A quick confession - I've had my tree up and fabulous for abouttttt two weeks already BUT the rest of our the house came together more recently. Okay, that is a bold faced lie. I have had everything Christmas-fied for two weeks. Oops. This only happened of course after convincing my fiancé that this was a normal thing to do. This year, I am especially inspired by themed trees, cozy throw blankets and (naturally) gold coated everything. Per usual, my eyes are bigger than my wallet - so I've rounded up some of the best steals and deals this season that are a MUST for your Christmas decorating list.
I absolutely LOVE how our living room turned out this year! We got the tree at a local nursery around the corner of our building for a total steal at $24. It's a little big for our space, but there is nothing better than having a real tree, with PLENTY of room for ornaments. The smell alone sends me into a Christmas coma. I combined a few holiday pillows in with our regular bunch to add some needed color and cheer. I found the red deer pillow for $9.99 at ROSS, and the Merry Christmas pillow case from Ali Express for ONLY $1.99. If you haven't discovered this site yet, it is your financial answer for all things holiday and party.
Here is a little peek of a few new favorites for the season. This adorable wood sign came from the best place on earth - Target. And only cost $3! (say what?!) Cheap, festive, and the perfect size for apartment living. I found a gold foiled deer at Goodwill for one whole doll hair. Boom. More money for gifties.
Our gold and silver themed tree is filled with bobbles from all kinds of places. The filler pieces (to add bulk) to the design are from the Dollar Tree and Walmart. The more interesting ones like the champagne glass and the crown are from places like ROSS (exotic, I know), Michaels, JoAnn Fabrics and Caras Nursery & Landscape.
One of my favorite pillows is this baby that also came from ROSS for $8.99! Pair it with a snuggly throw blanket and it's the perfect place to cuddle up on snowy nights.
What I love so much about seasonal decorating, is that you get to switch out pieces that live in your house year round, with specials ones for a limited time. This is such an easy was to 'holiday-out' your home without going crazy on the budget. I took away a few summery succulents and added a fun, silver ornament wreath from Target (last season $20) to my living room bookshelf. By leaving the existing gold accents, I was able to make the whole unit feel like it matched my silver and gold theme this year by only adding one piece!
Who can't get down with some oversized letters?!? They are a perfect addition to weddings, children rooms, birthdays and yes - Holiday decorating! I picked up these already golden letters from a clearance bin at Michaels for only $1.50 a piece! These large wooden letters typically retails for $14.99 EACH. They had limited letters left, but I was able to spell NOEL and add some festiveness to my kitchen.
This adorable tin advent calendar I scored from Target last year. This is a rare item I purchased that was NOT on sale but totally worth it. I believe it was around $20. I like to use a tiny tree to place in each day of the month, counting down till Christmas!
Our loft turned out so wonderful this year, and is really starting to feel like home. I know one day, when babies come and the craziness of having a family takes over, my themed trees may become be a thing of the past. Until then however, I plan on making my decorations elegant AF.
